148th Annual Firefighter's Memorial Sunday
On Sunday June 7, 2015. Members and retirees of the Malden Fire Department will stage at the Malden Fire Headquarters, 1 Sprague St., Malden at 9:00 AM. Parade to the Forestdale Cemetery will step off at 10:00 AM. Dress attire will be Summer Class A with black tie.
The Malden fire department has been honoring those members who have passed away since May of 1869, the whole department showed up at the original Centre house on Pleasant St., the home of the Wannalancet Steam Fire Engine Company #1, to march to the Salem St burial ground to honor James Fagan, a member of the company who died as a result of being severely burned in a fire at Minors bakery on Ferry St. James Fagan was the first Malden firefighter who died as a result of injuries he received while in the performance of his duties as a Malden Firefighter. Every member of the company and those from the Sheridan Hose 2, (Maplewood), Daniel Webster Hose 3 (Edgeworth), the General Taylor (Ashland St) attended the services.
